Removal.

26 Jun

We were SUPPOSED to have sun today for the first time in weeks but instead it decided to rain most of the day.  So after getting up and watching “You’ve Got Mail” and grocery shopping and making dinner and eating lunch I didn’t have anything to do.

Given that we couldn’t ride our bikes or take our boy to the dog park, Steven Ramon suggested we take the wallpaper down in the upstairs, guest bathroom.  The wallpaper itself wasn’t in terrible condition but neither Steve nor I like wallpaper, especially in the foggy, humid bathrooms.  Plus, it was a dark red color and for a small bathroom, we felt it was a little much.

So we took it all down.

First, we had the red wall.

Then, we sprayed it with a solution of half vinegar, half water and let it soak for a few minutes.

After soaking, the first layer of the wallpaper peeled off rather easily.

Then we sprayed it again, liberally, and let it soak again.

And scraped…

And four hours later…

Ta da.

After this picture, Steve took the tank off the toilet to remove the wallpaper from back there and we discovered that the wall was all torn apart since the old toilet tank had been attached right to the wall.  Nothing can ever be simple.

But we’re still excited to get going on one of the rooms in the house since we’ve been spending so much time working on the yard in the past few weeks.

And those of you who know boxers probably know that they like to be with their owners AT ALL TIMES whenever possible.  So, of course, our little supervisor looked on from the hallway while we scraped away the wall paper:

Just a little update for ya’ll.
